Ok, so not literally the stars but if you are looking to add a new wow factor to your home then a spiral staircase is a great solution to providing access to the upper levels of your home without taking up too much space.  Spiral staircases are still not typically used in UK homes so by adding one you can instantly add a unique element and designer flourish to your home that will be the envy of all your friends and neighbours.  Spiral staircases are available in wood or metal, chrome finishes work extremely well with a light wooden hand rail (my fave look).

You can buy spiral staircase kits online which allow anyone with some good DIY skills to add a fabulous staircase to their home.  The successful addition of a spiral staircase does depend on your measurement skills as much as your DIY skills, as you have to be sure that the spiral staircase you order fits into the designated space.  However, with a careful approach to this project the result can be breath-taking and you will have a new elegant staircase to ascend to the stars and you will probably have created some additional space within your home.

The design (i.e the diameter and rise of the staircase) needs to conform to British Standard 5395 Part 2, so do bear that in mind when looking for a suitable space for your staircase, and it will be worth checking with your local planning office to make sure there are no problems with adding a spiral staircase, this phone call could save problems in the long run.
